What is CMU-IMC?

    CMU-IMC stands for "Chiang Mai University International Medical Challenge." It is an annual international academic competition held by the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. Participants are medical students from various countries around the world. The first CMU‑IMC was held as a part of the 55th Anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. A different theme is chosen for each year:
  • CMU-IMC 2014: Pathophysiology and Pharmacology
  • CMU-IMC 2015: Basic to Clinical Biochemistry
  • CMU-IMC 2016: Basic to Clinical Anatomy
  • CMU-IMC 2017: Basic to Clinical Hematology and Transfusion Medicine
  • CMU-IMC 2018: Basic to Clinical Infectious Disease
  • CMU-IMC 2019: Basic to Clinical Physiology
  • CMU-IMC 2022: Basic to Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
    Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CMU-IMC 2022 was held online, fortunately, this November, we are finally back ON-SITE with the theme of Basic to Clinical Anatomy. As a participant, you will not only be granted the opportunity to experience valuable medical knowledge throughout the competition, but also forge memorable friendships with other participants.

Who organizes this event?


CMU-IMC is organized by the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University.

    The Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, established in 1959, is the third oldest medical school in Thailand and the first medical school established outside of Bangkok in a regional location. It is located in Muang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai. Its founding mission was to address the need for more physicians to serve rural areas, particularly in the northern region of Thailand. Over the years, the faculty has grown continuously and has successfully fulfilled its original mandate. It is now the largest medical school in northern Thailand, operating as the region's most comprehensive hospital.
